I’m a huge fan of copper and I’m so excited to be seeing more and more of it in interior finishes. For me it’s a welcome change to see a metal finish that’s warm and bright after years of cool chrome domination.
Black is a perfect partner for copper – the dark drama of black is softened with the bright warm tones of copper and it’s no surprise that we are seeing this combination become popular in interior schemes. Copper makes a real statement when used in lighting and combined with black has a real wow factor.
Here is a selection of some of my favourites available right now that will add instant warmth and drama to your scheme.
For a real wow factor the Innermost pendant makes a real statement on it’s own or used as part of a group. It also comes in black which would be a great combination. Tom Dixon has an amazing range of copper lighting. – it was so difficult to pick one so I picked two! The melt and fade pendants would really lift a dining area or kitchen island. The Enrico Zanola pendant would also be at home in a kitchen with a more industrial feel. For a tighter budget IKEA’s Brunsta would also work well used with copper-effect light bulb.
If you’re more a fan of shades then Made have a black shade lined with sleek copper as seen here as part of the Tris floor lamp. IKEA’s Nymo shade comes in three different sizes and is also copper lined. The fretwork style shade will enable the copper glow to shine through when it’s illuminated making a real statement
For more traditional settings I like the Heathfield & Co table lamp. This piece introduces the copper and black scheme in a classic table lamp. A pair of these lamps would look fabulous on hall console.
